For some time now Kara has been "walking around furniture" and today she was trying to push the highchair, so I brought up this walker toy from downstairs and she really likes it. This is my first attempt to put a MP3 on my blog so lets hope it works. I am kind of suprised that she will actually "walk" behind it. Lately if she is holding onto anything that moves she just sits down. I have also been trying to get her to stand on her own but she just sits down.
I think it is funny that you can see Tyler on the table and then he jumps off at the very end. (watch it again)When I was filming it I didn’t even notice he was on the table.

This week's "Sweet Deal"
I've decided to add a "sweet deals link" to my blog because I save SO much money and wanted to share. This week at Albertsons another deal besides the Huge Quaker Sale, is the Post Shredded Wheat deal. If you buy 5 boxes of the shredded wheat (I like the frosted ones) you get a free gallon of milk and two 3.00 catalinas (coupons to use on your next shopping order) So I ended up with 5 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk for 1.32 (with tax) Do you see why I love deals! I eat some form of shredded wheat made by Kellogg's/ Post or Malt-O-Meal everyday for breakfast, boring I know, but it keeps the hemorrhoids away - thanks to having 3 kids I now have issues that I thought only old people have.

Kara loves her blanket. She gets excited when she sees it and when I give it to her she likes to do this. (put it in her mouth) I didn't want to post without a cute picture of reason number three of "why I have hemorrhoids!"

It’s where fun is . . .
My mom and Tennille came up Friday and so we decided to go shopping. Tennille took her boys to Target to get their pictures taken, then we headed off to IKEA. We arrived around 2 p.m. and hadn’t eaten lunch, so we ate at their cafeteria style restaurant. I got the special - Penna Pasta with Alfredo sauce and garlic bread. It was no Olive Garden but for $1.99 it was pretty tasty! The kids got Mac-N-Cheese and didn’t like theirs much. So I gave Trent mine and then I went and got me another one. Then Tyler told me he didn’t like his so I shared with him as well. Kara liked the Mac-n-cheese so it was all good. Then I took Trent and Tyler to the adult supervised "play area" and checked them in. They gave me a pager and said to be back in an hour. I was so excited that they would watch them for FREE!
We walked around upstairs, and there were mostly displays. Then after going through the kitchen area and not finding any pots and pans I asked a worker and she said they were down stairs in the "market area". We went down stairs and even though I found the pans, I didn’t really find what I needed. I did buy some other random things. My favorite purchase was a new wastebasket for my bathroom, I have had a TINY one in there and it needed to be replaced. I scored with a nice sized one for only $1.99. Over all it was a fun experience, my only complaint is that they need to have some English names for their stuff. I can not pronounce the Swedish names, and half the time I couldn’t tell the price of things. There would be several things on a display and then several white cards hanging below each with a random word and the price. You know me, sometimes I buy things because the "price is right"; and not knowing the price made it hard for me to decide if I wanted it or not. How am I to know that a PYRA is a wok? Anywho, I will definitely be going back.

Saturday we all got up early and went to Trent’s soccer game. Ray told Trent that grandma was coming to watch him score a goal, so as soon as we got there (we arrived a little later than Ray and Trent) Trent started to "really try" and scored several goals. This is a good thing, because last season he was more interested in just watching people, and not playing soccer.
Around 11 a.m. my mom and Tennille left for a baby shower and we went to Lagoon. I hadn’t been there since Trent was Kara’s age. The first ride I took the boys on was the "Terror" haunted house ride. It scared them!
It was kind of funny, but they got over it. Then we went on the carousel/merry-go-round. All the kids had fun on it even Kara. We spent a lot of time in the Kinderland area and Ray
took them on a few non-kid rides. I also took the boys on the Log Flume ride, you sit in a fake log and float down the stream then you go up a large ramp and then zoom down a large hill into the water and got splashed. It was a lot higher then I remember but it was fun. We stayed until 8:00 p.m. then headed home. We had fun, of coarse, - Lagoon it’s where fun is!

Holiday and Teri Time
Tuesday we went to a baseball game. He had only been there for maybe a half hour when the sky started to get really dark and they evacuated the stadium because of severe weather and possible torn
Tyler started preschool on Wednesday. I had to go sign papers for the condo that we sold, so he went with Madison (neighbor friend) to preschool. Then I went to pick him up. He didn’t want me to take his picture,
Thursday I had Enrichment. It was a county fair mother daughter party. I took Kara to the first part of it, because Ray had the boys at soccer practice. Then Ray came and got Kara. It is just to hard to do much when I am holding her – like eat! She grabs at everything. I helped with the pie contest (getting the plates ready for the judges) I made a banana cream pie and ended up with a green "participant" ribbon – no winning pie to add to my "contests I have won list". I was able to get our picture taken (picture to be added when I get it)
Friday I went to a Women’s Expo with some of my friends. There were 7 of us that went. I forgot that Ray had a camp out, so I arranged for a baby sitter. Then I got a little worried when she didn’t show up when I told her to come. I called her house and her mom said she was dropping her sister off and would be back shortly, her mom also mentioned that she had asked her if she had plans that night and she said no! I didn’t know what to do! Her mom ended up coming over to watch my kids so I could go, and her daughter came twenty minutes later. We had a lot of fun. There were some "make and takes" a card and a tag, and the main sponsor, Close to My Heart, gave out a free stamp set. Most booths had candy and they gave us a bag at the front to put our "loot" in. I kind of felt like I was trick or treating. We stayed until 8 p.m. It was a great ladies night out!
Saturday I got all the kids up early so we could make it to Trent’s soccer game at 8 a.m. We were a little late, but we made it. Then I dragged the kids with me to get some DEALS! Smiths is having a killer deal on kleenex, Prego, and Cambell’s chunky soup. If you have one near by check it out. Then we went to Albertson’s, they are also having some sweet deals. There is a manager there that one time was handing out coupons to everyone and I saw him, so I asked him if he had any coupons, he just shook his head no. Then I was over getting some cereal and he brought me 10 coupons that were a dollar off one box and so I ended up with 10 FREE boxes of cereal. I was excited!
Last night I went to a midnight madness sale at a local scrapbook store. When I got there Leanne and Christina (friends from my w
ard) were there so we made some free cards (see picture) and browsed the store. I got some cute paper (all on clearance) and some good ideas. The store was also doing give aways and I almost won – I was standing on a number, then I moved to another one that was close to a whole bunch of open numbers and they called the number I was originally on – oh well! I have had 3 nights in a row of Teri Time! It was just what I needed!

Lately the only way I can get my kids to do anything, is tell them I will give them a quarter. Will you please clean your room? I’ll give you a quarter – OK mom.

Anyway, Trent came home from school on Friday and told me that he made a deal with a little boy on the bus. I said what was your deal? He said that Max wanted to sit by him, so Trent told him if he gave him a quarter that he would sit by him for a week. I told him he didn’t need to be charging kids money to sit by him on the bus.
SURE!
The other day he said "I want some toast toasted in the toasting machine." I thought that was cute.
Tyler also LOVES playing "go fish". He is good at it and I think that he likes that he always gets to go first, because the rules say the youngest goes first.

School, Reunion and Gratitude
We have had a great week. Trent started school on Tuesday and seems to really like it. I really like that it is everyday. My mom called to see if I cried when we dropped him off on the first day – oh, don’t worry – I didn’t. I actually just had Ray take him that day (so he could video tape the first day of school) I taped him getting off the bus that first day. He has been riding the bus to and from school; and that has worked out great.
Ray’s parents came this weekend. We went to a family reunion up in Salt Lake. We had a great time eating KFC and just visiting. Ray’s grandpa told some stories about "the farm". It is always fun to hear his funny stories. We also went to several baseball games this week.
I taught in Relief Society today, so I have been spending any free time (when Kara is napping) working on my lesson. My lesson went really well (I think), and I am glad to not have to worry about it anymore. I gave it on Gratitude. The main resource was Sister Parkin’s talk from the May Ensign (April Conference) It was a good talk. I also found some great quotes by a couple of prophets and this story told by Elder Steven E. Snow, of the Seventy, ("Gratitude," Ensign, Nov 2001, 43)
"Growing up in southern Utah, some of us sought employment at the many gasoline service stations that lined old Highway 91 as it made its way through downtown St. George. My younger brother, Paul, then 18, worked at Tom’s Service, a station located about three blocks from our home.
One summer day, a car with New York license plates pulled in the station and asked for a fill-up. (For you brethren under the age of 30, in those days someone actually came out and filled your car with gas, washed your windows, and checked your oil.) While Paul was washing the windshield, the driver asked him how far it was to the Grand Canyon. Paul replied that it was 170 miles.
"I’ve waited all my life to see the Grand Canyon," the man exclaimed. "What’s it like out there?"
"I don’t know," Paul answered. "I’ve never been there."
"You mean to tell me," the man responded, "that you live two and a half hours from one of the seven wonders of the world and you’ve never been there!"
"That’s right," Paul said.
After a moment, the man replied, "Well, I guess I can understand that. My wife and I have lived in Manhattan for over 20 years, and we’ve never visited the Statue of Liberty."
"I’ve been there," Paul said.
Isn’t it ironic, . . ., that we will often travel many miles to see the wonders of nature or the creations of man, but yet ignore the beauty in our own backyard?
It is human nature, I suppose, to seek elsewhere for our happiness. Pursuit of career goals, wealth, and material rewards can cloud our perspective and often leads to a lack of appreciation for the bounteous blessings of our present circumstances.
It is precarious to dwell on why we have not been given more. It is, however, beneficial and humbling to dwell on why we have been given so much."
Here is a statement that I really liked. (from True to the Faith) "Gratitude is an uplifting, exalting attitude. People are generally happier when they have gratitude in their hearts. We cannot be bitter, resentful, or mean-spirited when we are grateful."

Hot Doughnuts Now!
So, our latest favorite thing to do (me and the kids) is to go to Krispy Kreme and get a free hot doughnut. A friend of mine told me that when ever the red "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign is on that you can go in and they give you a free doughnut. You know me I am all about FREE. Tyler and I went a couple of times last year. But since there is construction on the road that we use to get to Wal-mart, which is the closest store to my house, we have to go up and around – and right past Krispy Kreme;
and seeing how we go to Wal-mart 3 to 4 times a week we pass it a lot. Anyway, last night we went to Wal-mart for FHE as a family – great fun! Usually Wal-mart is super busy on Saturday nights so I try to avoid it like the plague, well I guess because all the college kids are arriving they were all there last night, and even though it was Monday it seemed as if it were Saturday. So stinkin’ crowded! We got our stuff and as we were walking to the car the
boys – mostly Tyler – started chanting/yelling "Hot doughnuts now" over and over. So we headed up the street and as Krispy Kreme came in to view, sure enough the "red light" was on. Ray was a little apprehensive, "you get free doughnuts and you never buy anything" – yep - was my reply. He wasn’t going to come in, but Kara saw me and the boys getting out and starting to kind of cry, so I told him he should come in; which he did. We walked up to the counter and the girl handed us a "sample" as she put it – whole, fresh , hot doughnuts. Then we did our usual and walked over to the window where you watch the doughnuts plop into the oil, fry, then they turn over and go under the glaze fountain. It is quite fun to watch, and boys love it. Kara also likes the little bites of sugar and fat that I give her from my sample. Then we left, see you can get something for nothing!Monday, August 27, 2007
School starts tomorrow!
We have just been trying to get ready for school to start. Trent is excited to start tomorrow and I am too. Trent had a little accident and a can of mandarin oranges fell on his toe. OUCH! His toenail is pretty black and I think it will fall off soon. Here’s a picture so you can feel his pain.Trent had his first soccer game on Tuesday and made a goal. Ray is coaching again so that will keep us busy. On Saturday he had a game as well, but his toe was hurting to bad so he didn’t play.
We went to Ray’s annual work summer party at a park. They rented inflatable jumper things as well as a water slide. The kids had fun playing.
On Sunday went to Mike and Ashlee’s for dinner. We had a BBQ with them and Randy & Keri, and Jenny & David and all the kids. We played
Kara is crawling pretty well and LOVES
to pull herself up on anything she can. She loves to be with Trent and Tyler, even if she is just in the room with them while they ignore her and play amongst themselves. It is going to be interesting having Trent gone half of the day. I hope Tyler doesn’t get to bored.

New Mexico and Strep Throat!
I am finally posting. It has been a crazy two weeks. To start off I got the stomach flu just as we were getting ready to go to New Mexico. NOT FUN! Ray left Friday to go to Youth Conference, so I ended up driving down Saturday to Castle Dale to pick him up and then we headed off to New Mexico. Jenny and her kids went down also. While there we went to some baseball games (Connie Mack World Series) and hung out with family and friends. We went to Jeff & Britney’s Sunday evening for dinner (Thanks guys!) and had fun catching up with them. We also had grandma and grandpa watch the sleeping kids Monday night while we went to a late night movie with Jeff and Britney. We saw The Bourne Ultimatum . It was a really intense movie, and it was sooo good!We drove home Tuesday; which is always such a long drive. The kids did pretty good, Kara just doesn't like being in her car seat that long - can't blame her. We stopped at Wilson's Arch.
The boys had fun hiking up to the arch. I had developed a clogged duct, and for those of you who have had them you know how painful they are. I am still kind of having issues with it. Anyway, on Saturday night I started getting a sore throat. Sunday at church I started feeling really achy and weak, so after church I pretty much spent the rest of the day in bed. Monday I wasn’t doing much better, but I thought it was just a cold. Tuesday, I felt better than Monday, but not normal and by the evening my back was hurting and I decided I had HAD IT and I better go to the doctor. Our insurance changed in January and I didn’t know who I could even go to , so I started looking through our insurance directory and I remembered that IHC has InstaCares (you just walk in and don't need an appointment), so I decided I better go ASAP. I called Ray, who was at a baseball game with the young men, and ended up just taking Trent and Tyler over to him. I took Kara with me. The doctor was really nice I spent forever going into detail about the clogged duct and everything then she swabbed my throat and sure enough it was strep throat! I was just glad to know that something really was wrong and I wasn’t just being a baby! I opted for the shot and was on my way home by 9:30 p.m. I am now doing much better! Thank goodness for modern medicine!Kara had her 9 month old well baby appointment on Wednesday, and I just had Ray take her so I wouldn’t be spreading germs. She is so small! She is only in the 2% for her weight; she weights 14.86 pounds. I am kind of worried! The doctor said to try to give her more fat. Butter in her veggies, and just fattening things. She hasn’t really wanted anything to do with solids this past week, she has had a little cold/cough. I am sure she will be o.k. She still likes to scoot on her belly everywhere and likes to pull her self up on things like Tyler’s bed and the coffee table. I think she is just more active and burning lots of calories and not gaining the weight she needs to be.
Trent starts school in two weeks. I can’t believe it! Tyler will go to preschool starting in 3 weeks. They both have morning sessions, so I am kind of excited to just have Kara for 2 hours a day – three times a week!
Now that I am feeling better I hope to start posting each week again.

More Reunions and sick kids
On Sunday we went to my parents’ ward and visited with cousins. Monday morning everyone but mom, Kara and I, went up to my grandma’s property up second left hand in Parowan. Here are some photos. I went shopping a
nd got a couple of sweet couponing deals. On Monday, we had another reunion with just my dad’s siblings and their kids, grandkids and my grandma. Once again we ate and visited and had a program. Each of my dad’s 8 brothers and sisters got up and shared a favorite memory about growing up. They seem to do this at every reunion, which is fun, but it is amazing that they hardly ever tell the same story. Most of the stories are quite funny. We had a great time but the reunion was cut short by an afternoon thunder/rain storm; so we just cleaned up and headed back to my parents as the dark clouds gathered.
Tuesday (24th of July) we were planning on going to the parade in Cedar City. Trent said he wasn’t feeling well, and ended up throwing up (my kids sure get sick a lot!)
Tyler was excited to get candy – my favorite was the local Pediatric Dentist that threw suckers with this attached saying "EAT CANDY, DRINK POP support your local DENTIST" Nice!
We drove home that day and had planned a BBQ with Ray’s family at our house. I called everyone to say Trent was sick, but Randy and Keri came and we just kept Trent in the house, while we ate outside. Then Jenny and David came and everyone went to the Owlz game except Trent, Kara, and I. They said it was a great game with great overcast weather.

4th of July, Family Reunion and a big fire
We have had another crazy busy week. On Tuesday we kept our family tradition and went to see the hot air balloons down in Provo (part of the Freedom Festival) We got up at 6:15 a.m. and headed down to the field. We always go to McDonalds for breakfast then walk to the field and watch the balloons as they inflate them. The kids had fun and
Tyler started feeling better around 4 p.m. We had a BBQ for dinner then we went to the Owlz game. On Saturday, the kids and I decided to drive down with my brother, Mike, to a family reunion (my mom's side of the family). Ray stayed home and worked on getting the yard ready for the sod that will be delivered Tuesday (YEAH!). We stopped in Enoch for a couple of hours then went to Pine Valley. They had it at my Uncle Ernie and Aunt LeAnn's cabin. We had a lot of fun visiting with family and letting the kids play. Trent got to shoot
"a real bow and arrow", he also got to go on a ride on the four wheeler. Trent was also excited that he found a "real bone"; he told me he wanted to start a "bone collection". Kara really enjoyed swinging in the "car swing" she would just laugh and squeal. She smiles a lot normally but really doesn't "laugh" that much, so I could tell that she really liked the swing.
We ate a super yummy dinner there and then left around 9 p.m. I called Ray and he told me about the big fire by Cove Fort and that they had to shut down the freeway. On Sunday, Tennille and Whit went home in the morning but
checked the Internet and the freeway was open so we started home and about 20 minutes later we got to where they were forcing traffic to go over SR -20 because I-15 was closed. Anyway, we went on the detour and instead of getting home in less than 3 hours ,like normal, it took us almost 6 - It was a joke! We should of just left in the morning!Sunday, July 1, 2007
More Vacationing
Ray and the scouts (venture and varsity) left Tuesday morning at 6 a.m. to head to scout camp for the week. I had a meeting here at 9:00 a.m. then I cleaned up and got ready to go to Enoch for the week. My cousin, MeChel, needed a ride down to SUU for a basketball camp so she rode with me. It was fun having her with me and sure made the time pass quickly. The kids slept most of the way – so that was WONDERFUL. We stopped in Beaver to get gas and so I could feed Kara. When we got there my mom had a yummy dinner already and Tennille, Brett and Jack were there. We ate, then Tennille and I drove MeChel to her game. We went shopping, but didn’t really find anything.
Some of Lynn and Jim’s kids (My aunt and uncle that live next to my parents) were in town (Charlotte & Eric) and Heather, so we were able to visit with them and let ALL the kids play. I think at one time there were 8 little kids on the trampoline! Tennille and I worked on cards and shopped some more the next day. She went home on Thursday.
we went outside and Tyler went first. Tennille did the "T", we showed him in the mirror then buzzed it all off. Then we did Trent's hair. This is my before and after shot (the before was taken in May, but they had pretty long hair). I am so excited to not have to worry about their hair the rest of the summer! We also went to my grandma’s one night to visit with her. On Friday, I went to lunch with some of my high school friends (Laura, Sundee & Kami). It was so fun to talk and catch up on what is going on with everyone.
Ray and the scouts hiked Burch Hollow on Wednesday. The hike included 10 repels and emptied out into the Narrows (in Zion’s). The campground that th
Saturday morning I was getting things packed in the car and Ray called on the freeway to see when I was leaving. He asked me if I had anyone riding home with me and I didn’t so he said he would. I met him in at the gas station, one of the other leaders just drove our van home. We left my parents around 10 a.m. I am so glad that he was able to ride back with me and it was just good to have him back with us. The kids were not good on the way home - little stinkers! It was a good week. Now back to reality!
